Queen

Queen came to us in terrible condition.

Her tail had been badly injured (probably from escaping a predator) and infected, and by the time she reached us, the wound was covered in maggots. She needed immediate medical attention, and there was no possibility of saving the damaged tail.

Queen underwent an amputation.

What emerged from that frightening beginning was our beautiful little bobcat.

Once the infected tail was gone and she had time to recover, Queen healed remarkably well. She settled into sanctuary life, discovered the important business of meals, comfortable places to sleep, and people who would care for her, and began behaving less like a critically injured rescue and more like a cat with things to do.

Today, Queen is safe, healed, and thriving at Artemis House. She may have lost her tail, but she certainly did not lose her personality, or her appetite.

She is living proof that sometimes removing what cannot be saved makes room for everything that still can be.
