People of Artemis House
Artemis House is held together by people who care deeply about animals and who keep showing up for them ... and, along the way, for each other.
Some of us met through rescues. Others through emergencies, trapping, transport runs, veterinary visits, or a cat who suddenly had nowhere else to go. What began as people helping individual animals has become something more: a small community connected by a shared commitment to protecting vulnerable cats.
We have carried crates together, driven for hours with cats in our cars, sat beside frightened and sick animals, celebrated recoveries, grieved losses, built shelters, cleaned messes, solved problems late at night, and stepped in when someone else needed help.
We came together because of the animals.
Somewhere along the way, we became part of each other’s lives too.
The Work We Share
Caring for more than seventy cats takes many different kinds of work.
Some of it is obvious: feeding, cleaning, medications, veterinary appointments, trapping and rescue. Some of it looks like building walls, repairing shelters and fences, organizing supplies, driving across Florida, fundraising, photographing cats, answering messages, or sitting quietly beside an animal who needs some love.
There is no single kind of “sanctuary person". People bring whatever they know how to do, and often discover entirely new skills along the way.
Artemis House is still being built, physically and as a community. If you care about animals and have time, skills, ideas, or simply a willingness to help, there is a place for you here.
