Nymph
Nymph was gravely ill and fully paralyzed, misdiagnosed several times, and eventually recommended for euthanasia. We suspected FIP and chose to treat her. Today, she is running around Artemis House again.

Nymph became gravely ill in March 2026.
Her condition deteriorated rapidly. She lost the use of her legs and eventually became completely paralyzed. Over the course of trying to understand what was happening to her, she received several different diagnoses, but none of the treatments were making her better.
Eventually, euthanasia was recommended.
We weren't ready to accept that.
Having seen FIP before, we suspected that Nymph's symptoms might be caused by the disease despite the other diagnoses we had been given. We decided to trust what we were seeing and begin FIP treatment.
Then Nymph started responding.
The cat who had been unable to walk began recovering. Strength returned. Movement returned. Eventually, so did running.
Nymph is also FeLV-positive, which makes her health more complicated and means she needs careful monitoring. She now lives with the other leukemia-positive cats at Artemis House, where she can receive the additional attention she needs.
But if you visit the Healing Garden today, you are not likely to see the completely paralyzed cat we once carried and cared for. You may have to look for the one running past you.
