The Healing Garden
For many cats, a diagnosis of feline leukemia changes everything. They may be passed over for adoption, isolated from other cats, or euthanized despite still being able to enjoy a good quality of life.
The Healing Garden was created to give FeLV-positive cats another option.
At Artemis House, these cats have a dedicated sanctuary space where they can live safely with other FeLV-positive cats, spend time outdoors, rest in the sun, climb, play, and receive the medical care and monitoring they need.
The goal is simple: not just to keep FeLV-positive cats alive, but to give them a life with comfort, companionship, dignity, and joy.
About Feline Leukemia
Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) affects a cat's immune system and can make it harder for the body to fight off infections and other illnesses. Because of this, FeLV-positive cats may need closer monitoring and more frequent medical care.
At Artemis House, we have cared for FeLV-positive cats dealing with respiratory infections, stomatitis, FIP, and other medical complications. We watch them closely, respond quickly when something changes, and provide veterinary and supportive care as needed.
But a FeLV diagnosis does not tell you who a cat is. The cats in the Healing Garden are some of the most affectionate cats we know. They seek out attention, form friendships, play, climb trees, race through the garden, nap together, and very much enjoy being cats.
Help us care for them
Because FeLV-positive cats can require additional medical care and because they need a dedicated living environment, caring for them is one of the more resource-intensive parts of Artemis House.
